Farsley Celtic had to dig deep to take a share of the spoils as they drew 1-1 with Witton Albion, writes Thomas Ritchie.
In the midst of a punishing schedule Nathan Cartman had given Farsley the lead, before Rob Hopley deservedly levelled for the visitors in the second-half.
It was evident that this was Farsley’s fourth game in a week in the early stages as Witton started on top, Michael Wilson missing a guilt-edged chance before Tom Owens also failed to hit the target.
Kyle Trenerry then had to be at his best to deny Will Jones when one-on-one, before Kurt Harris made a fantastic block to keep out Michael Wilson’s effort.
The Celts had their first chance of the game midway through the first-half, however Paul Walker’s free-kick was comfortably saved by Calvin Hare.
Kyle Trenerry came to Farsley’s rescue once more, as he was spotted off his line by Will Jones, before recovering to brilliantly tip the ball onto the crossbar and away to safety.
Minutes before half-time Farsley took the lead against the run of play, as Nathan Cartman latched onto Ben Atkinson’s flick, and twisted and turned in the box before firing past Hare.
Farsley started the second-half better than they did the first, and Paul Walker found Chris Atkinson only for Hare making the comfortable save.
Witton did deservedly equalise just before the hour mark as Will Jones fed Rob Hopley who exploited a gap in the Farsley defence and slotted home.
Hopley could have had a second as he volleyed just over, before he had a fantastic chance from Steven Tames’ cross, however Trenerry was there to make an excellent save.
The Celts almost stole all three points in the final minutes, with Lewis Turner making a terrific run before curling wide what would have been a superb solo strike.
Witton came close once again in the final minute of added time, however Tom Owens saw his strike deflected wide, with Witton left frustrated at their failure to take all three points.
