A pub on a West Leeds estate could be revamped with a mix of nine houses and two shops being built on the site.
The Swinnow pub, on Swinnow Lane, Swinnow, could be replaced with a new – smaller – pub with five flats above and four pairs of semi-detached houses and one detached house if a planning application is approved. Two small shop units would also be built on the site.
Planning agents Evans Design Consultants say the proposals are to demolish the existing pub ‘due to the fact there is a lot of wasted space inside’. They add:
“Due to the fact there is already a pub on the site and retail units further down Swinnow Lane we feel the design is in keeping with the area. This is why we have kept the front of the pub and retail units running along Swinnow Lane.
“The houses have been located at the rear of the site, so that when you travel up Harley Road you can turn left into the new houses or right to access the existing dwellings on this road.”
