Would you like to tell the story of your community or a local group? Or perhaps you’d like to celebrate the achievements of others, or highlight an important cause or campaign in West Leeds?
If you’d like to get more involved in what’s going on locally, the West Leeds Dispatch community reporters’ training course is right up your street.
The friendly and informal course runs over six weekly sessions and offers a fun introduction to:
- writing articles,
- taking photos,
- shooting videos
- and basic podcasting …
… as well as offering wider help and guidance on everything you need to know to be a community reporter, including copyright and ethics. We can help with spelling and grammar!
The third of our FREE community reporters’ training courses starts from Wednesday, September 4, for six weeks at New Wortley Community Centre, Tong Road, LS12. The course runs 10am-12 noon each week and ends on Wednesday, October 9.
They’re run by West Leeds Dispatch editor John Baron, a journalist with 25 years’ experience who has worked for a variety of local newspapers as well as The Guardian.
At the end of it, you’ll become part of the Dispatch family and earn a community correspondents’ press card and certificate, as well as gain increased skills and confidence.
All we ask is that if you sign up you turn up – and that you have an ongoing interest in contributing to the West Leeds Dispatch.
