Plans for a hot food takeaway at a parade of shops in Armley Ridge Road have been refused by Leeds City Council planners.
Applicant Valjit Singh Soor wanted to turn a hairdressers into a takeaway at a parade of six shops on Armley Ridge Road. But planning officers were concerned that the row of six commercial properties already have three existing takeaways and this proposal would create four.
A council report refusing the application concluded:
“The proposed change of use to a hot food takeaway is considered unacceptable as it would lead to a further loss of a retail unit, resulting in a clustering and excessive
proliferation of non-retail units and undermining the vitality and viability of the range of shops that meet daily local needs.”
