Stanningley: Neighbourhood watch meeting tackles crime

A group of Stanningley residents are holding a meeting to discuss problems with crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

The Stanningley Bottom/Sunfields Neighbourhood Watch meeting on Tuesday, 23 February, will see police local councillors Andrew and Amanda Carter will be in attendance.

The last meeting in November discussed anti-social behaviour problems on Sun Street and the Sunfields.

Residents said youths havee been acting in an anti-social manner including drinking alcohol in the streets late at night, kicking parked cars, throwing stones at residents` windows, causing noise nuisance, being verbally aggressive when confronted, and even urinitating through a residents’ letterbox.

Rhere has also been a spate of vehical theft and theft from a vehicle on the Sunfields and Sun Street and drug dealing had been witnessed both outside the apartments at Westroyd Park and on the corner of Sunfield and Sun Street.

Tomorrow’s meeting will be held in the back room of the Travellers Rest, Stanningley Town Street, from 7pm.
