Northern property developer Breck Homes has completed the unconditional purchase of a brownfield site in Stanningley for the development of 43 new affordable homes.
The site, on Arthur Street, is part of the former Infinity Metals recycling centre and has been vacant since 2023.
The new proposal occupies part of the same site which received outline planning permission for 40 homes from developer Redstart Robinson in February 2025. WLD understands those plans are no longer moving forward.
Breck Homes’ proposal will feature a range of one and two-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom houses. Breck is in talks with affordable housing associations to acquire the development on completion. Access would be via Arthur Street.
The developer says it will undertake a public consultation with local stakeholders, before submitting a detailed planning application to Leeds City Council.

Breck Homes’ Yorkshire managing director Nigel Robson said: “The development of brownfield sites such as this plays a key role in addressing West Yorkshire’s housing need.
“We want to ensure our scheme maximises the benefits for all residents in the local community, so we will now take the time to engage with all local stakeholders before submitting plans formally.”
In August, Breck gained planning permission for a development of 120 affordable homes at the former Lloyds data and contact centre at Dawsons Corner – Breck expects to begin construction later this year.
Last week WLD reported on plans to demolish the former Infinity Metals office building have been submitted to Leeds City Council. The demolition would help unlock the redevelopment of an adjacent part of the site, which last year received approval to become a McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant. Revised proposals for the McDonald’s site were submitted earlier this year and are awaiting a decision from planners.
