There’s still time to vote for Rodley Nature Reserve in the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards 2018, but you need to hurry!
The nature reserrve has been shortlisted for the prestigious national awards – but needs your vote by Monday, 5th March.
The awards are a celebration of the British countryside and its people, from mighty landmarks and national parks to the best nature reserves and finest rural pubs.
Rodley Nature Reserve‘s shortlisting is all the more remarkable given the area was devastated by the Boxing Day 2015 floods – and volunteers have worked tirelessly since then to restore the reserve back to its former glory, with still more work to be done.
The reserve was, until recently, at risk from being considered for use as a flood water storage area as part of Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme Phase 2.
The final shortlist of nature reserves also includes:
- RSPB Ham Wall in Somerset
- RSPB Arne in Dorset
- Clara Vale in Tyne and Wear and
- Loch Druidibeg, South Uist
Winners will be announced mid-March in an online ceremony and will appear in the May issue of the Countryfile magazine on sale 13th April.
You can vote online on the BBC Countryfile Magazine via this link or by post, sending the voting form in the February issue of the BBC Countryfile Magazine, to 2nd Floor, Tower House, Fairfax Street, Bristol BS1 3BN.
