Usually a birthday party consists of a few people getting together, having a few drinks and dancing to some decent music.
Club Classics threw their third birthday party and smashed this concept into outer space.
A huge crowd of people descended on the Project House in Armley for this. Around a thousand people bought tickets for one of the most exciting nights of the year.

K-Klass and Shades of Rhythm, two of the most iconic acts of the 90’s dance music scene, played out to the crowd during the show.
Marc Leaf and Gavin Lampitt were first up. The party quite quickly got into full swing while the two of them performed their back to back set.
Next Shades of Rhythm stepped up. Nick Slater and Lanx behind the decks, Rayan Gee picked up the mic.
“Do we have ravers in their 30’s? Do we have ravers in their 40’s? Do we have ravers in their 50’s?”. Each question was met with a huge cheer.

During the set they played some of their classics like “Sound of Eden”, “Sweet Sensation” and “Extacy”. Nighties nostalgia resonated around the room.
Gavin Lampitt then did a solo set, and had the bassline rocking the entire room. He was aided by the bongos of Bongo Dave.
Marc Leaf’s solo set was equally as good, double dropping with some songs containing typical piano riffs from the genre of house music. The dancefloor was full and the audience was soaked in euphoria.
K-Klass were last to perform, Paul Roberts on the decks, the vocals from Bobbi Depasois were brilliant. “Let me show you” and “Rhythm Is A Mystery”, arguably their biggest hit, just went off within the place.

This was the fourth time that Club Classics have used the Project House for their party, a much bigger venue than the early days at the Old Woollen in Farsley. Three years since the start they sell out every time.
There will be a resurgence of these events, 90’s culture seems to be seeping back. Party people, now more informed and educated, will thrive again.
The next Club Classics party will be on Saturday, 7 March 2026 where Livin’ Joy will be headlining.
