This Saturday sees the first Horsforth Repair Cafe of the year as well as Horsforth Climate Actions Saturday event.
People are invited to bring items for fixing to the Repair Cafe in St Margaret’s Parish Centre. A range of items will be accepted from jewellery to garden equipment and anything in between. Perhaps you have a remote control, or a child’s toy or an item of clothing that could be used again after a bit of attention.
If you think it’s possible to fix an item, take it along and see what they can do. Any items that may be dirty such as kitchen or garden equipment should be cleaned before you take it. Unfortunately bikes cannot be accepted at the moment due to the facilities available.
The cafe runs from 1pm to 4pm and is a free event run by volunteers who will try and fix the item as quickly as possible. Refreshments are available while you wait.
Meanwhile next door in the church all are invited to Horsforth Climate Action Saturday between 2pm and 4pm with this week’s theme being “Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Regift”.
Take along your gifts toys and gifts in good condition to exchange, or why not take the tech you no longer use to donate. Laptops, mobile phones or other tech donated will be recycled by Solidaritech to be updated to be reused by asylum seekers and refugees.
Horsforth Climate Action is one of eight climate action hubs set up in the city as part of the wider Climate Action Leeds Initiative. It is part of a £2.5 million lottery project to work towards a zero carbon, nature friendly and socially just city by the 2030’s.
