Whilst most of their work is done on hooks or needles recently, a group of knitters have been supporting a Humanitarian Aid group based in Huddersfield who are sending supplies of used spectacles to the Ukraine.
They asked if Hookers & Clickers could help with pre-loved prescription glasses (preferably in cases). Hundreds of glasses have been donated by their members. However they received a welcome boost by Specsavers on Lidget Hill in Pudsey when they donated over 1,000 glasses that had been returned to their store.
The store dropped off the glasses at Topstitch in Pudsey who are a ‘drop off point’ on behalf of Hookers & Clickers.
Many people have glasses at home in drawers and don’t know what to do with them. If you do have any glasses that are no longer useful for you please take them to Topstitch.
Hookers and Clickers meet at the Kirkstall Valley Development Trust in St Stephen’s Church Hall on Norman Street, Kirkstall. More details on the group here.
