A fabulous weekend of community celebration drew the crowds at New Wortley Community Centre – and the official opening of the centre’s new £640,000 building was also marked in style.

Hundreds of people flocked to the weekend of community celebrations, which featured a parade, community fair, community cabaret and a host of events at the centre off Tong Road and nearby Bethel Free Church.

New Wortley Community Centre’s £680,000 building, which sits alongside the old one, was orchestrated by New Wortley Community Association and funded by The Big Lottery.

The official opening, which was carried pout by members of the community, is the culmination of seven years’ planning and hard work to make local residents’ dreams become a reality.
