What Wellington Street roadworks mean for West Leeds buses

Do you catch a bus home from this bus stop on Wellington Street? If so, you’ll need to find a different stop for the next 18 months.

From today the stop is closed due to refurbishment work to the Majestyk Building opposite, disrupting many services heading towards the west of the city.

Wellington Street will be reduced to one lane between City Square and King Street for around 18 months.

Services affected include many buses towards Kirkstall, Armley, Farnley, Farsley, Bramley, Rodley, Wortley and Pudsey. Buses affected are: 4, 4G, 7, 7A, 7S, 11, 11E, 15, 16, 16A, 19, 19A, 33, 33A, 40, 42, 60, 64, 508, 670 and 757.

Buses can either be caught outside the railway station or, in the case of the 42, on Park Row.

FirstBus have already warned that roadworks will lead to delays for peak-time services.

  1. Well this will affect a seven mins service or better ?… The Traffic commisioner will be busy ?… no more than 1 min early or 5 mins late is there guide lines ?. What are the bus companies going to do to deal with this ?

  2. Absolute chaos now so God help us all. No wonder people get stressed trying to work and home. Lets hope they do the work quickly unlike the bike lane fiasco!
