A person has been found dead on tracks near Kirkstall earlier this afternoon.
They were pronounced dead at the scene by the ambulance service. The person’s name has yet to be released by the emergency services.
Northern train services were suspended between Leeds and Shipley and Ilkley for a time this afternoon, but have now re-opened.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:
“British Transport Police were called to the line near Kirkstall at 1.34pm today (29 March) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to identify the deceased and inform their family.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
