Dear Residents of Pudsey & Farsley,
YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!
We believe that our current national lockdown should not prevent us in commemorating VE Day 75.
Sadly all celebratory plans have had to be put on hold. Undeterred we know that we can rely upon our wonderful community to rally in their individual households to still make Friday 8th May a remarkable commemorative celebration, and to say a huge “THANK YOU” to all those who served in World War 2.
How can you and your household help on Friday 8th May?
- We are asking all our younger residents to create VE Day Union Jack style posters to display in their windows.
- We would like residents to dress/decorate their homes in the colours of red, white & blue. If you have flags and bunting you can display that would be amazing.
- At 3pm please open your windows and stand in your doorways to sing along to Vera Lynn’s “We’ll meet again.”
I am sure you will want to join us in celebrating such a key element of our National historical heritage.
Please post your VE Day decorated homes, garden party style picnics & doorstep singalongs to our Pudsey & Farsley Royal British Legion Facebook page.
Let’s put Pudsey & Farsley positively on the map showing that our communities can lead the way in our national VE Day celebrations.
Thank you in advance for your wonderful support….please watch out for further updates on our plans to help everyone celebrate and remember via Facebook live broadcasts on May 8th.
