The Leeds Triathlon is set to put the city on an international sporting stage later this month.
On Sunday 12 June, Leeds will host a stage of the prestigious International Triathlon Union’s World Triathlon Series.
Horsforth heroes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee, as well as other leading GB triathletes Non Stanford and Vicky Holland, will battle for glory against some of the world’s best triathletes in their last race on home soil ahead of Rio.
Road closures for the event have been announced. In West Leeds, these include:
– The whole of Cardigan Road, Burley
– Burley Road, Burley, from Willow Road to Burley Street
– Whole of Burley Street
– Kirkstall Road, from Willow Road to West Street
All properties along the route should have received two letters with initial details, information and guidance concerning the event.
Roads around the route are expected to close by 4am, with closures starting as early as 12am on 12 June, and will be closed for a minimum of 12 hours with the route needing to be completely clear of vehicles.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained through the event and emergency services, health and social care providers, community meals at home and other agencies are working together to ensure care and support individuals may need is provided.
