Labour’s Mark Sewards won the new Leeds South West & Morley seat at the 2024 General Election.
He received 17,681 votes, compared to Tory candidate Andrea Jenkyns’ 9,258. The Conservative had held the Morley and Outwood constituency since ousting Labour’s Ed Balls in 2015.

Following last year’s boundary changes, voters in Farnley & Wortley Ward now vote in the new Leeds South West and Morley constituency, which also includes the council wards Ardsley & Robin Hood, Morley North and Morley South.

The turnout was 56.17 per cent, from an electorate of 71,854.
Mr Sewards also represents Farnley & Wortley as a councillor on Leeds City Council. The result will see Mr Sewards resign from the council and a by-election in the ward will be held later this year.
Well done to Mark and all his team. I hope they have an opportunity to take a rest, but soon, Mark helps to get on with the job of fixing the broken country.
