The Leeds 2023 Year of Culture Roadshow will arrive at Old Farnley Community Centre next month.
The roadshow intends to give people living in Farnley & Wortley ward more information about what the year of culture will entail and how people can get involved and will also offer food, drink and entertainment.
The event will be held from 6pm-8pm on Thursday, 14 July and will be free with no booking required. During the roadshow people will be able to speak to the producers about the events that will be taking place as part of Leeds 2023.
It will also be a celebration of the community and will present work and performances from local artists.
The roadshow is a selection of events across all 33 wards of Leeds in the lead up to Leeds 2023 year of culture next year. The year of culture will see 12 main events and many other experiences throughout the year that celebrate the cultures of Leeds.
Leeds had decided in 2015 to apply to be European Capital of Culture 2023. However, due to the UK’s decision to leave the EU, Leeds was banned from entering. This didn’t stop the festivities as it was decided that a year-long celebration of Leeds culture would still go ahead in 2023.
