Armley: Councillors to consider youth activity grant and foodbank support

By John Baron

Councillors are set to decide whether to fund three community projects in Armley ward next week.

The agenda for the next meeting of the Inner South West Community Committee, made up of councillors for Armley and Kirkstall wards, plus Beeston & Holbeck and Hunslet & Riverside wards, has been published.

The committee is also responsible council functions such as street cleaning and youth services, and it manages a budget that funds large and small projects and initiatives.

Grants being considered by the committee include:

  • £7,375 towards continuing the popular Armley Leisure Centre Youth Space.
  • £1,655 towards funding a foodbank at The James McKenna Community Hub, run by Leeds North & West Foodbank.
  • £1,050 towards Art and Digital Wellbeing sessions in Armley run by The Highrise Project CIC.

The meeting, which is open to the public, is taking place at Leeds Civic Hall, LS1 1UR on Wednesday, 11 March 2026 starting at 5.30pm. The meeting will also be livestreamed and then available to watch on YouTube.

The meeting starts with an open forum, where members of the public can ask questions or raise issues directly with their councillors.
