Kirkstall Valley Farm – where everyone is always welcome

By Rhian Williams

People and veg alike have been enjoying bright blue skies and sunshine at Kirkstall Valley Farm this autumn.

Even as it gets colder, being out on the farm through the autumn and winter is so good for our mental and physical health and it’s been great to welcome new volunteers.

Everyone is welcome to come to our volunteer sessions and you don’t need to make a regular commitment – visit us, look at our website or email kvf.admin@kvdt.org.uk for more info.

The rain we had in September has produced some massive veg! Some of our cabbages, swede and leeks have been particularly huge and we’ve enjoyed hearing what members have been cooking with them.

Our Pumpkin Festival was a big success, with lots of families down on the farm. Kids had a go on the tractor, carved pumpkins and gathered round the fire pit. This was a big team effort from across KVDT, we love seeing so many people enjoying the farm.

Do join us for Santa’s annual visit to the farm on Thursday, 18 December – expect singing, fire, snacks and a visit from the big man himself. Timings coming soon, likely between 3pm and 6pm.

In the world around us and online, times can feel hard, money can be tight and lots of us feel alone.

Spending time together in real life feels more important than ever, so we get to know who else is in our community and how we can help each other. Everyone is always welcome at Kirkstall Valley Farm.
