Kirkstall residents will be able to debate plans for new flood defences in the area – and initial proposals for housing on the former Kirkstall District Centre site at a meeting this week.
Kirkstall Neighbourhood Forum’s Annual Meeting will take place in Leeds Postal Sports Association Club, Beecroft Street, on Wednesday 30 January 2019, starting at 7.30pm.
A major topic for discussion is likely to be the proposal from Artisan Real Estate for housing development on the former “Tesco” site between Beecroft Street and Kirkstall Lane. The principle of housing on the site was welcomed by councillors last week, but concerns remain over parking and traffic.
A further topic for discussion is likely to be planning application for flood defences along the Kirkstall valley, which have caused a stir over a lack of public consultation.
Information will also be available about the various community projects promoted by Kirkstall Valley Development Trust (KVDT) including the restoration of Abbey Mills.
The AGM will see the forum elect its board and discuss its current activities.

Kirkstall Forum is currently preparing a Kirkstall Neighbourhood Plan, which will act as a guide to future development in the area.
