The new Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Park is set to open on October 30, boasting a new M&S Foodhall, Outfit, Home Bargains, Trespass, Costa, JD, Pure Gym and Pets at Home stores.
But can Kirkstall cope with the extra traffic the development will generate?
That’s the question asked by local resident Paul Long at a meeting of the Kirkstall Forum earlier this week. He also pointed to further imminent development at Kirkstall Morrisons centre, where two new stores have received planning permission and a new Matalan is also planned. Mr Long said:
“I’ll be very concerned when all these are up and running – Kirkstall Road is bad enought as it is. I’m concerned it’s going to cause more traffic issues on Kirkstall Hill, which already backs up with traffic even without the new retail park opening up. There are a lot of commercial properties expanding in such a short space.”
