Farsley Celtic extended their winning streak to four games with a 3-2 win away at Colne thanks to a goal from Adam Clayton and a brace from James Walshaw, writes Thomas Ritchie.
Oliver Wood should have given Colne an early lead as Celts’ ‘keeper Graeme McKibbin flapped at a Chris Lynch free-kick before Wood fired over the empty goal.
Farsley then started to grow into the game and, after some neat interplay, Nathan Turner delivered a cross for James Walshaw who saw his header well saved low down by Tony Aghayere.
Just after the half-hour mark Farsley took the lead as the ball fell to a wide open Adam Clayton in the box who smashed home past Aghayere into the bottom corner.
However Farsley’s lead didn’t last long as from a Colne corner Chris Lynch turned goal wards before Mark Ayres bundled the ball home despite Farsley’s best efforts to keep it out.
Minutes before half time Farsley regained the lead with a wonder goal from James Walshaw. Jordan Deacey flicked the ball onto Walshaw who sensationally volleyed into the top corner from the edge of the box past the despairing Aghayere.
Colne started the second half the brighter and pulled level as Aaron Hardy gave the ball away to Oliver Wood who slotted home past McKibbin to send the ‘Red Army’ into raptures.
Nathan Turner had a chance to break his Farsley goal scoring duck after a terrific run by Paul Walker who picked out Turner in the box before the instrumental midfielder shot straight at Aghayere.
Substitute Richard Marshall then produced a terrific save from Aghayere as his rasping shot from the wing was pushed over by Aghayere.
With less than ten minutes remaining James Walshaw scored what turned out to be the winner with his 30th goal of the season, superbly heading home Aaron Hardy’s cross.
Walshaw could then have wrapped up all three points and his hat-trick as he was played in by Paul Walker before he rounded Aghayere, only for his effort to be cleared off the line.
