Horsforth: Yarnbury RFC plans new training and gym building

By John Baron

A new modular building will help provide education, training, gym, coaching and community use at Yarnbury rugby club in Horsforth, if plans are approved.

Yarnbury RFC has submitted the proposals, which include a portable modular building behind the clubhouse at its Brownberrie Lane ground. It will feature two 32ft by 10ft units joined together.

The club is working with Guiseley Football Club Academy on the proposal.

Phil Addy, chairman of Yarnbury RFC, said in a statement: “We are both community clubs and the benefits to both parties are substantial.”

A planning and design statement submitted with the application concludes: “The proposed portable modular unit represents a suitable and practical response to the needs of the site. It will provide additional accommodation to support education, coaching, training and associated club activities within an established sports setting.

“The design is modest, functional and appropriate to the surrounding environment. The proposed siting makes use of existing access and hardstanding, while the support system limits ground disturbance.

“The development can be safely and adequately accessed by prospective users and will support the continued community and sporting use of Yarnbury RFC.”
