Hollybush Conservation Centre is in need of volunteers of all ages, from 16 to 76, to join in with the Hollyvols team on practical conservation projects, writes Eleanor Conradie.
Two projects are run daily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 9.00am – 4.00pm.
One project is aimed at helping children to learn more about wildlife and nature in schools by creating wildlife gardens, food growing areas and outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy. The other project is aimed at improving local green spaces in Leeds and learning practical conservation skills, for example, hedge laying, coppicing and tree felling, and building footpaths.
Both projects are suitable for anyone who wishes to expand their conservation knowledge, gain important skills and work experience, and most importantly, have fun! It’s also a great way to meet new people and spend the day outdoors, helping the community.
No experience is needed, just a packed lunch and a sense of humour!
Hollybush Conservation Centre is situated in Kirkstall, but on great bus routes. To find out more about volunteering, contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator Jess Kandola on 0113 2742335.
