Bosses at West Leeds Activity Centre are appealing for information after heartless thieves stole two canoes from the popular facility.
The canoes – valued at £1,400 each – are often used by local families at the facility in Armley and bosses at the council-run centre said they were ‘devastated’ and posted an appeal for help on social media. They said:
“Last night (Thursday) people came and stole two of our canoes – two Orange Venture Canoes.
“The canoes have kneeling thwarts for solo paddling and were cut through the carrying handle by the thieves.
“If you have any CCTV in our area or see any suspicious activity please let us know urgently.
“We are devastated as we work tirelessly with vulnerable children and young people.”
Anyone with information should contact West Yorkshire Police via cib@westyorkshire.police.uk or call 101, quoting the crime number 01321030479.
Never fails to amaze me how low some so called “people” can stoop, when they are prepared to steal from people who are doing good work to help the community. Let’s just hope Karma wins out??
