The expansion of Hawksworth Wood Primary School has moved a step closer to reality.
Leeds City Council has already agreed to expand Hawksworth Wood Primary from a one-form entry with 210 places to a two-form entry with 420 places.
The first phase of work has already been carried out, and a second phase will be carried out in time for the new school year in September.
The council has this week approved paying £1,492,658 to Interserve Construction Limited to carry out the second phase of work.
This includes four new classrooms, refurbishment of a number of areas in the children’s centre, provision of a disabled toilet, a fenced games court and an extension to the car park, as well as a new junior football pitch.
Interserve beat off five other companies to win the contract.
The council report authorising the expenditure can be read here.
