A long-running planning saga in Pudsey has ended after proposals to extend and change the use of former Pudsey Grangefield School science block into ten flats were approved.
The retrospective application also included the insertion of new windows, together with associated parking and landscaping works.
It’s the third retrospective application for the site, after plans for 12 apartments were first approved by the council in 2020. The latest proposals came after council planning officers felt there had been ‘unauthorised works’ to the building.
Approving the application, subject to a raft of planning conditions, a council planning officer’s report concluded: “The proposal is, on balance, not considered to have a significant detrimental impact on neighbouring residential amenity and the character and appearance of the building or adverse visual impact on the Pudsey Conservation Area.

Similar retrospective plans by applicant Riana Developments Ltd were refused by the council in January 2024 and October 2024.
