A new crochet and knitting group is proving a big success at Gotts Park cafe in Armley every Tuesday.
Numbers have grown since the free group started over a month ago to provide friendship – and help charities at the same time.
Organiser Joanne Brophy said:
“Everyone is welcome from total beginners to very experienced. It’s a chance to get together, relax, chat and make.
“It’s a very supportive group already and many are also part of a Facebook page I run with a friend called ‘Hookers and Clickers (we do it for charity)‘.
“The more the merrier. Some needles, hooks and wool can be supplied too. It’s free and we have breakfast there, too.”
Hookers and Clickers run short-term, specific need projects across the UK and overseas for a variety of charities. So far they have supported Leeds Baby Bank and their current campaign supports “Moray Supports Refugees” in Scotland.
The group meets Tuesdays, 9.30am-12pm.
Meanwhile, Messy Church at nearby Christ Church, Upper Armley, celebrates its third birthday on Saturday, 15th September. Join the group from 3pm-5pm. It’s free and fun for everyone.
