General election 2017: Pudsey candidates’ tribute to Manchester bomb victims

All five candidates standing in the Pudsey constituency at next month’s General Election have come together to pay tribute to the victims of the Manchester bomb blast.

The candidates have suspended campaigning ‘until further notice’ as a mark of respect after 22 people lost their lives after a suicide bomber struck at the Manchester Arena following a Ariana Grande concert last night.

In a statement, the candidates said:

“As candidates in the general election for the Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough constituency, we have come together to offer our condolences and deepest sympathy to the families of the victims of the horrific attack in Manchester last night.

“This senseless attack on ordinary people who were going about their business on a Monday evening is condemned by all of us.

“We offer our thanks to the emergency services and others for their sterling work and bravery in trying to help so many victims.

“As a mark of respect, we have suspended campaigning in the election until further notice.

Stuart Andrew – Conservative candidate
Ian McCargo – Labour and Co-operative Party candidate
Allen Nixon – Liberal Democrat candidate
