A group of Pudsey residents who banded together to campaign for a greenway linking Pudsey to Tyersal are holding a fundraising gig featuring local bands.
The Greenside Greenway campaign is holding ‘The Night At The End of the Tunnel’ event at The Royal Hotel on Saturday, 26 November, with doors opening at 7pm.
Bands include Amici acoustic band, the Celtic Cowboys with country and Irish folk classics and punk and new wave band The Variants. The event is free to attend.
The Greenside Tunnel in Pudsey was constructed in 1893 and was in use as a railway tunnel until 1964. Since then it has remained an iconic piece of local architecture.
Land adjacent to the tunnel has been developed into housing and, in 2017, the developer successfully applied to tip the spoil and partially fill the tunnel cutting. This spurred on a small group of local residents who want to see the tunnel restored as an asset for the local community.
