Fulneck School pupil gallops into Blenheim Palace Horse Trials

A Fulneck School pupil has made her debut in one of the country’s most prestigious horse trials.

Nadia Illingworth competed in the 100cm Eventers Challenge at the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials, and was the only rider under the age of 16 in a 40-plus class.

Despite a clear round, the Year 10 pupil finished with a 6.8-second time fault, which meant she failed to make the top six.

And, following on from Blenheim, the end of this month will see her attending a training camp with international eventer Ben Hobday.

Additionally, Nadia has two more qualifiers to attend this year, Bishop Burton on Saturday, September 30, and Askham Bryan on Sunday, October 8.

She will also compete in three more qualifiers next season 2018 and it’s Nadia’s aim to be selected to join the Northern team to attend the National Championships at Frickley Park in July 2018.

Fulneck School Principal Deborah Newman said:

“To have competed at Blenheim will have been a fantastic experience for Nadia, and will stand her in very good stead for the future.”
