Flats plan near to Pudsey pub is withdrawn

Plans to build 17 flats near the Golden Lion pub in Pudsey have been withdrawn by developers.

Everest Venture Enterprises wanted to build the flats by converting 34–38 Chapeltown into flats and building two new-build blocks on land to the side and behind.

The development would have been just up from the Golden Lion pub.

The flats would have been mainly one and two-bedrooms, with one three-bedroom flat also proposed. Plans including parking for 19 cars in a new car park on land behind the current buildings.

Leeds City Council conservation officers had said the proposed development would ‘have a negative impact on the conservation area and would fail to preserve or enhance its character or appearance. It would also be harmful to the setting of a listed building’.

The proposals can be viewed in full here.

WLD first covered the planning application in August.
