Council chiefs have given the go-ahead to spend £4.9 million to expand Park Spring Primary School in Swinnow.
As previously reported, Park Spring Primary will be expanded from a 1.5 form entry with 315 pupil places, to a two-form entry with 420 places from September 2017.
A report compiled by council officers says ajor building work on the scheme is due to start next month and will be finished by March 2018.
Work includes improvements to existing facilities and a new two-storey extension which will include a new nursery, reception, and four key stage 2 classrooms.
The school is expanding in order to meet increasing demand for primary school places in the area.
Overall approval for the scheme was granted by the council’s executive board in December 2015.
