The owner of a private tuition business in Farsley has held a special celebration to mark a decade of helping people to fulfil their potential.
Jenny Silvester is the founder of The Learning Curve, which is based at Springfield Mills It offers private tuition for pupils aged 6 to 18 and adult language classes.

Students past and present and their families attended a special 10th birthday celebration last weekend.
Jenny, 56, set up the business after becoming disillusioned with teaching in a school.
She said: “It’s difficult to believe it’s ten years since I handed in my notice at a secondary school in Bradford. When I left I really wasn’t sure what I was going to do. Then I thought, hold on, I can teach, and I started the Learning Curve and haven’t looked back.”

Learning Curve has grown from relatively humble beginnings to become a thriving business which now boasts more than 20 tutors.
“The reason behind our success is personalisation,” Jenny told WLD. “When we meet parents and students we try and look at all the needs that the pupil has. It is not a general formula that we apply, everything its personalised. Sometimes people come with very specific needs and we try come up with the best solution for that person.
“Education isn’t one size fits all. I left the school I worked at because the lessons I had to deliver lacked individuality. Seeing students reach their potential and achieve what is expected gives me the most satisfaction.”
Jenny says the best part of the job is seeing her students grow and achieve beyond what was originally expected of them.
As for the next five years, Jenny has some ideas around growth and expansion.
And people can join Learning Curve on Saturday, 12 September, any time between 10am to 2pm, for a look around, chat and assessment.
