Farsley VE Day celebrations cancelled for second year

An annual event to celebrate the end of World War Two and honour the fallen of all conflicts has been cancelled for the second year running.

Organisers of the Farsley VE Day event said ongoing coronavirus restrictions made the annual event, which in 2019 raised £1,252 for the RAF Benevolent Fund, untenable.

Posting on Facebook, organisers said:

“We have tried to hold on in these uncertain times in the hope that we could go ahead with this year’s event.

“Unfortunately due to the current situation and ongoing restrictions we have decided there is no option but to cancel the VE Day event for this year. Thank you for your ongoing support, stay safe and hopefully we can resume next year.”

The event fun and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy, a variety of military vehicles, 1940s entertainment and more. VE Day will be observed on 8 May 2021.
