Customers at a Farsley fish and chip shop have helped raise £250 towards an appeal for a new play area in Hainsworth Park.
Bosses at Croft Street Fisheries marked National Fish and Chip Day on Friday by donating £1 for every portion of fish and chips sold to the Friends of Hainsworth Park group’s fundraiser.
The Friends are raising money for a new adventure play area in the park, which is this year celebrating its 100th birthday.
Posting on Facebook, Croft Street Fisheries said:
“A big thank you to everyone who came to support us yesterday, our fabulous Croft street team, and Friends of Hainsworth Park. Together we helped raise £250 for the Hainsworth park development.”
The Friends group have labelled the donation as ‘awesome’ and thanked the takeaway for the donation.
The Friends have so far raised more than £30,000 via grants and community donations towards marking the park’s centenary with plans to build a natural landscaped play area for physical and adventurous play next to the existing playpark.
In April Croft Street Fisheries was crowned one of the best chip shops in the UK.
