Farsley Celtic will tomorrow (Tuesday) entertain 18th placed Boston United, where they will hope to end their rotten run at home which has seen them fail to pick up three points at the Citadel since April, writes Liam O’Sutherland.
The Celts were agonisingly close to getting a win on Saturday when a 2-0 lead over Spennymoor Town was overturned right at the death, giving Farsley their fourth draw in the league this season.
Despite this disappointing result, there have been good signs from the Celts, with recent results not reflecting positive overall performances.
Russ Wilcox reflected on this following the draw to the Moors: “We should have put the game to bed. At 2-0 we had three, four, five opportunities to get that third goal.
“I think if we go 3-0 up we probably win that game by four or five, because the performance for 75 minutes is outstanding.”
Tomorrow’s opposition Boston United have just found themselves pick up some form in the league after being winless in their first seven league games, winning their last two against AFC Telford and Buxton.
Farsley will look to get their first win over Boston since the Celts’ return to the Vanarama National League North in 2019, with the Pilgrims winning all four of their encounters with Farsley since then.
Jimmy Spencer’s return to the side following illness will be big for Farsley, and they’ll be hoping he can get back on the scoresheet and help his side earn what would be a massive three points.
