Farsley Celtic 6 Stocksbridge Park Steels 0
Farsley Celtic put in an astonishing display as they destroyed Stocksbridge Park Steels 6-0 to progress to the last 16 of the Integro League Cup, writes Thomas Ritchie.
Farsley took the lead with the first clear cut opportunity of the game as Paul Walker played an inch perfect cross to Leon Osbourne who powerfully headed home.
Farsley continued to dominate and almost doubled their advantage as Leon Osbourne regained possession in the Stocksbridge box before his effort was saved by the on rushing Luke Hinchcliffe.
But moments later The Celts did extend their lead as Paul Walker curled a delightful freekick around the wall and into the bottom corner.
And despite captain Robbie O’Brien being forced off through injury, Farsley continued to blitz Stocksbridge as Lewis Sugden squared to Osbourne who slotted home from close range.
And then moments before half time Josh Grant played a wonderful cross field ball to Aaron Hardy who in turn crossed to Osbourne. He then took a touch before firing home to complete an excellent first half hat trick.
Early on in the second half Stocksbridge thought they had pulled a goal back as Richard Patterson headed goalwards, however his effort was bundled away and adjudged to have not crossed the line.
Celtic then made it 5-0 a while after, when Ross Daly played through Aiden Savory who slotted home.
And almost immediately Daly got a goal for himself as he volleyed home Josh Grant’s cross from the edge of the six-yard box. Stocksbridge failed to carve out any more chances of note as Farsley comfortably progressed to Round 3.
