Farnley Falcons, a local junior rugby team, has secured £1,000 for new kit.
The rugby league club, which runs teams for 170 juniors, will be purchasing brand new after-match kits. They will use the money for tracksuits, hoodies, polo shirts and kit bags with any left-over funds going towards training equipment.
This new kit is meant to give pride to the under 10s team both on and off the pitch while also allowing the team to feel a new sense of unity. This sense of unity is also meant to add the drive for more teamwork within the team.
This money has been granted to them by housebuilder Persimmon Homes. They signed up to Persimmon’s community champion scheme and were lucky enough to be one of the winners of the March 2022 draw. Farnley Falcons signed up with the scheme in March.
Due to the team being made up of almost entirely volunteers, donations like these are greatly appreciated. Garry Sides from Farnley Falcons said:
“We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generosity.
“Our players are proud to wear their team kit and having clothing for after matches will give them a greater level of pride and will further unite the teams.”
Christopher Hull, the managing director for Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, added:
“We’re pleased to be able to support Farnley Falcons junior squads through our Community Champions scheme. Developing teamwork is an important life skill for young players.”
Farnley Falcons are also actively recruiting new players across all ages starting from under 7s. If you are interested, you can find more information on their website.
