An eyesore Armley pub which has been closed for almost a decade WILL be demolished.
The Golden Lion pub in Armley Road, which is unsafe and at risk of collapse, will be replaced by two warehouse units, each with a reception/sales area and car parking.
Council planning officers approved the plans this week, saying:
“The pub itself is in a dilapidated and dangerous state of repair after various instances of vandalism and attempted arson.”
A report approving the scheme, subject to a number of planning conditions, adds:
“The proposal is not considered to have a significant detrimental impact on neighbouring residential amenity or the character or appearance of the Armley Conservation Area or wider street scene.”
The Dispatch reported the original application back in January.
