The Old Unicorn Beer Festival started yesterday (Wednesday, 4 March) and I decided to sample a couple of the real ales on offer.
The J D Wetherspoon pub hosts annual Spring beer festivals, which feature a selection of international and local real ales. These events often feature brewers from across the world.
I started with Driftwood from Fyne Ales brewery(4%), a self-described Spring Brown Ale. It had light overtones with possible citrus flavours.
I followed this with Exam Room Tears(5.5%), a Maple and Pecan Stout from Stu Brew. This had a lovely, sweet chocolatey flavour.
I wish I could have tried the rest of the five Festival beers available, but decided to head home.
The Beer Festival continues until Sunday, 15 March.
