Residents and guests of two West Leeds care homes hosted a special afternoon of activities to celebrate the Harvest Festival.
Amber Lodge in Armley and Acacia Court Care Home in Pudsey welcomed members of the local community by providing entertainment, a raffle, harvest displays, bake sales, and a visit from donkeys.
A key part of the day was the distribution of all the home’s harvest collections to elderly neighbours and to local food banks, including Strawberry Lane Community Centre in Armley. The homes also held fundraising activities for charity partner The Silver Line, raising £90 for the charity.
Entertainer at Amber Lodge, Liz Singer, said:
“It is always an absolute privilege to be asked to come and entertain at Amber Lodge and to spend time with all their lovely residents and staff. It is always a fantastic afternoon full of laughter singing and dancing.”
Gladys Macdonald, resident, added:
“It was very interesting, I really liked the music and all the staff are very good at looking after us.”
Acacia Court is run by award-winning Meridian Healthcare. HC-One is the UK’s third largest care home provider for people, with Amber Lodge located in Armley.
