Calverley: Rotary collection nets £2,700 for charity

A collection run by volunteers from Calverley Rotary Club has raised £2,798 for local charities.

The money was raised over three days at the Owlcotes Centre in Pudsey. Rotary members collect in their own time and have no administrative costs.

On Christmas Day, Rotary Club members teamed up with Calverley Golf Club and delivered Christmas dinner and gifts to 97 people in the community who are alone at this time of year.

Posting on Facebook, Calverley Rotary said:

“It has been an amazing experience and a massive thank you to John Daughtry, Doris Curtis, Sue Daughtry and Chris Wilson for helping out on the day.

“A further thanks needs to go to Laura Lydon from Bidfood and Blackshaw Holdings for donating food and gifts on the day and last, but nowhere near least, to all the volunteers who help to deliver the meals on the day. This could not have happened without you guys.”
