Residents in Burley will meet tonight (Tuesday, October 8) to discuss local issues – and the ‘Mad Max’ style bikers who recently ran amock on Kirkstall Road.
As reported by the Dispatch, more than 50 people on bikes and mopeds led to police closing Kirkstall Road on Hallowe’en, causing long traffic tailbacks. Two people have since been arrested.
Tonight’s discussion will form part of the regular Burley Village Community Association meeting this evening at the Greenhow Centre, Haddon Road, at 7pm.
Barring emergencies/staffing issues there will be police in attendance, and the first item on the agenda is discussing the incidents that night.
Some local residents on social media described the scenes as resembling the movie Mad Max, and were critical of what they said was police inaction on the night. Police have since pledged to crack down on offenders.
Other local issues in Burley will also be discussed.
