Burley: Ghetto Golf plans withdrawn by applicant

Plans for an adults-only indoor crazy golf centre in Burley have been withdrawn by the applicants.

Ghetto Golf has outlets in Liverpool, Newcastle and Birmingham which feature a cocktail bar, top local DJs and graffiti artwork.

The Leeds venue would also have featured an Amsterdam red light district-themed hole at a former disused warehouse in Walter Street, Burley. Ghetto Golf premises have been previously described as being “tongue in cheek adult humour” and “Benny Hill for the 2020s”.

Applicants say the new premises would have created around 60 new jobs.

According to documents on the council’s planning portal, local authority planning officers had said the proposals did not meet the required planning policies and had suggested three other sites in other parts of Leeds, which Ghetto Golf said were unsuitable.

Last year the Ghetto Golf had been given permission to serve alcohol at the site, despite objections from the congregation of a neighbouring church.

The planning application, which was submitted in November 2019, can be viewed in full here.

  1. These applicants should be chased away by the Councillors and Planning Officers – Benny Hill style with the theme tune playing in the background. We can manage perfectly well without anything like this in the area.
