Judges from the Yorkshire in Bloom competition are set to visit Pudsey this week, sparking calls for residents to keep keep the town clean.
Barbara Thomas, from the Pudsey in Bloom group said Pudsey was being judged by Yorkshire in Bloom on Thursday, 7 July, at 9am. She said:
“Can we all help to keep Pudsey looking as good as it can? We have weeded, washed and picked up litter, and tab ends, because our judging doesn’t just include the beautiful flowers – it’s the town itself!
“The Yorkshire in Bloom competition is about a judgement. Pudsey is compared to similar sized towns, and we are classed as a large town. Each town is awarded points for each criteria – horticulture, environment, including street furniture, litter and general tidiness, interaction with local schools and other areas of the community.
“We won’t know until September what we have been awarded, but we hope we have improved on sliver, which we received in 2014.
“It depends the whole community pulling together by doing their bit with keeping the town litter-free, tab-end free.”
