Bramley Baths’ #Morethanapool programme has some great end of June one-off activities. This weekend the Art Merging with Life: A story of craft, community and connection free exhibition will be in the steam room.
This features many archival images from Leeds Libraries and Bramley History Society as well as works by a photographer Lizzie Coombes including some with an underwater camera.
It showcases many of the events at Bramley Baths over the years, from dance nights and galas to art projects and music concerts. It celebrates the baths’ heritage and roots in the Arts and Crafts November of the early 1900s. The exhibition celebrates how Bramley Baths has always been #Morethanapool, looking at its past and into its future. If you have a story to share this would be welcome too.
The exhibition is open
- 10am – 7pm on Friday, 19 June
- 10am – 3pm on Saturday, 20 June
- 11am – 7.30pm on Sunday, 21 June
The extended opening on Sunday is linked to a first for the Baths – a professional operatic performance by Opera North. If you have swum to carols or a brass band here in the past you will know how beautiful live music sounds in the pool area. This live show starts at 6pm, with doors at 5.30pm. If your creativity leans more towards growing things, the Grow Your Own talk and workshop, led by Kirkstall Valley Farm, may be for you. Ideal for beginners and more experienced gardeners looking for answers to questions around growing food in an outdoor space (large or small).
The talk and Q&A will be followed by a mini workshop planting microgreens to take home with you. The workshop will be outdoors (so dress for the weather!) in the community garden on Wednesday 24th June at 6.30pm. Tickets can be purchased here:

The #Morethanapool project is supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. Investment in #Morethanapool from the Heritage Fund thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, is allowing the Baths to pilot new activities celebrating its heritage and develop plans to restore and protect the building, ensuring continued long term service delivery and development.
