Bosses at a swingers club in Armley have been asked to rethink plans to extend their opening hours.
As previously reported, Pandora’s applied for retrospective permission to extend its opening hours from 10am through to the early hours of the morning.
It currently has permission to open from 7pm until midnight Monday to Thursdays and on Sundays, and from 7pm to 2am on Friday and Saturdays.
But unhappy councillors on Leeds City Council’s south and west plans panel have told them to rethink their request, asking them to return with proposals for shorter opening hours.
The panel deferred making a decision on the proposals to allow planning officers to negotiate opening hours with the applicants.
After the meeting, Armley councillor Alison Lowe (Labour) tweeted:
“South and West Plans Panel members hear the pleas of #Armley people and defer #Pandora’s application with a view to reducing hours applied for.”
Four letters of objection were received from local residents, all three ward councillors and Leeds West MP Rachel Reeves. Their objections includes parking issues, road safety and concerns the swingers club was in an unsuitable position off Ledgard Way, across the road from a residential area.
Gay sauna Steam Complex, which operated in nearby Ayres Avenue, was destroyed by fire in November 2016 and reopened at the Pandora venue last November. A report considered by councillors added that Steam Complex has been operating within times outside those approved when Pandora was granted planning permission in 2016.
Council planning officers had recommended the extended opening hours be approved, arguing there would not be an adverse impact on local residents or traffic in the area.
