The Pride in Place team are currently looking for residents in Armley and New Wortley who are interested in joining the new local Neighbourhood Board.
The Pride in Place Programme (PiPP) is an initiative in which 224 communities across the United Kingdom have been selected to receive up to £20 million over 10 years to invest in the local community. Each area will have a Neighbourhood Board who will decide how the money is invested.
As Armley & New Wortley is one of the areas selected, the call has gone out to residents interested in joining the board to apply and put forward their expression of interest.
A link to the expression of interest form for potential Neighbourhood Board members for Armley & New Wortley can be found here alongside the PiPP Board Member role description which can be found here.
Expression of Interest forms for the role must be sent by 10 April 2026.
The Pride in Place Programme will draw on the power of local people and partnerships, bringing together residents, MP Rachel Reeves, the council, businesses and community organisations to produce a clear vision for their area.
The Neighbourhood Board will be responsible for producing the 10 year vision for Armley & New Wortley, supported by interventions which are set out in the Regeneration Plan, to achieve the strategic objectives of the programme.
Neighbourhoods will decide how to prioritise funding based on extensive community engagement, across three core objectives:
- To build stronger communities
- To create thriving places
- To empower people to take back control.
These objectives are in place to ensure residents have a collective sense of belonging to the community, to build community cohesion and resilience, to be empowered to have a say in their local neighbourhood and to have access to a good range of local amenities and high quality physical infrastructure.
The Pride in Place programme is centred around community power. The Neighbourhood Board will be established to ensure that decisions are community-led and will be representative of Armley & New Wortley.
The Board decides where and how funding should be spent and bring together local people – residents, local businesses, faith leaders, youth leaders and community leaders who share a deep-rooted connection to the neighbourhood.
Wider community engagement within the neighbourhood is also vital, so there will be opportunities for everyone to get involved.
To apply to be on the Armley & New Wortley Neighbourhood Board, completed Expression of Interest forms can be sent by e-mail to PrideinPlace.Armley@leeds .gov.uk.
Hard copy completed forms can be sent to: Armley Community Hub & Library, Customer Services Desk, FAO Communities Team, 2 Stocks Hill, Leeds LS12 1UQ. The deadline is 10 April 2026.
If you require support to complete the form or to speak to anyone about the role, make contact by the e-mail above, or call 07525 886367.
