Scaled-back plans to build new shops in the Whingate area of Armley have been approved at the THIRD time of asking.
Structured Acquisition Ltd applied for planning permission for four shop units and two flats at the front of Whingate Business Park. Plans also include car parking.
Council planning officers approved the latest proposals, submitted in November.
But they set a number of conditions, including the shop opening times between 8am and 10pm.
They also said the development should not be occupied until measures to control on-street parking have been submitted to and approved by the council.
The Dispatch reported in January 2018 how an application to build four shops and four flats were refused by Leeds City Council. Planning officers said the design would be ‘incongruous’ in the area and raised concerns over highway and pedestrian safety due to a lack of off-street parking.
Similar plans were also knocked back by the council in August 2017, with planning officers saying the development would have created safety problems on the busy main road.
